Robert Hansard, Delivery Services Manager, Portlaoise DSU, is our latest VIP Award winner. 

Robert has been awarded a Value in Practice (VIP) under the value: We create a sustainable environment and community. 

Having created a very successful Biodiversity Day in Portlaoise DSU and getting buy in and collaboration from staff, Robert was nominated for his VIP Award by colleague Paul McCormack, Working Leader, who explains: 

"Robert created a Biodiversity Day for An Post. The plan was to create a green space with a seating area for staff to enjoy, with planter boxes, hanging baskets and upcycled plant pots.

"The goal was to be environmentally friendly and help An Post meet our carbon reduction and biodiversity targets."

Robert was presented with his VIP Award on the grounds of Portlaoise DSU where the great work of the project can be seen, by John Kehoe, Head of Final Mile Operations.  

"As a result of his project, Robert was also invited to be a guest speaker at the UCD Innovation Academy's Festival of Lifelong Learning to talk about the project and its positive effect," added Paul. 

"This initiative demonstrates Robert’s commitment to creating a sustainable environment by introducing environmentally friendly initiatives at Portlaoise DSU."
